The main objectives of the Farm Structure Survey are:

  • To evaluate the situation of Spanish agriculture and monitor the structural evolution of agricultural holdings, as well as to obtain comparable results from all the European Union Member States.
  • To comply with legal regulations set out by the European Union in the different Council regulations, as well as to meet national statistical requirements and other international requests for statistical information on the agrarian sector.
  • Serve as a basis for the formulation, application, monitoring and evaluation of agricultural policies, especially the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), as well as environmental policies for adaptation and mitigation of climate change and land use.
  • Monitor several sustainable development goals (SDGs) and measure the impact of these policies on the female workforce on agricultural farms.

The European Union has co-financed the implementation costs of this statistical operation.
